Subaru-Gary Fisher Riders JHK and Irmiger Make the Funny Pages
Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski and Heather Irmiger have had a great career to
date. It's been years of titles, podiums, overall top finishes,
worldwide races, photo shoots, and interviews. It's the sort of
exposure cycling's elite racers receive. However, even among the elite
racers, very few can claim to be immortalized in the Sunday newspaper's
funny pages.
Jeremy and Heather were name checked (subtly) in a recent "Frazz" comic
strip by comic creator Jeff Mallett. The comic strip features Frazz as
the hip school janitor/rock musician/bike racer and a couple of kids
named "Heather" and "Jeremy" in trouble for racing their bikes in the
school's hallways. The comic appeared in papers nationwide on December
16, 2006. For those who missed it, it can be viewed
here.
The subtle, insider's reference to the biking power couple makes sense given that "Frazz" creator is a mountain biker as well.
As for non-comic endeavors, Jeremy and Heather are busying themselves
this off-season with appearances in Outside Magazine, Velo News, and,
of course, training for the upcoming 2007 season.
